  • PAWS is actively researching and developing foundational processes and procedures to ensure the highest standards of animal care, safety, and operational efficiency. This includes protocols for animal training and handling, intake, residency, adoption, and medical care such as spaying and neutering.

    Additionally, PAWS will implement best practices for disease control and prevention, and a comprehensive contingency plan for emergencies, all designed to create a safe and nurturing environment for both animals and caretakers.

    These process will be expanded upon when a permanent location is secured and the sanctuary become fully operational.

Becoming Fully Operational

  • PAWS seeks to build strategic partnerships and collaborate on future projects.

  • Pause Animal Wellness Sanctuary (PAWS) is currently seeking to establish a long-term home for the sanctuary.

    We are looking for 40-100 acres of land in Colorado, near Elizabeth, Colorado. Ideally this space would already have prebuilt structures.

    We are calling in mutually beneficial partnerships and relationships that help to make this possible for PAWS.

  • To remain in compliance with the State of Colorado, PAWS will obtain a PACFA license to operate as a shelter and sanctuary before transferring more than 20 animals in or out within a calendar year, or housing 10 animals on site whichever comes first (PACFA), or housing more than local city limits allow. PAWS plans to apply for PACFA once we have secured our permanent location and done necessary renovations to ensure PACFA compliant.

  • Once PAWS is fully operational, will put in place and continuously improve procedures for intake, care, residency, and adoption.

Future Forward Funding

  • Pause Wellness (PW) is planned to be an LLC Subsidiary that handles all retreats, workshops, courses, and events at PAWS.  As a nonprofit, PAWS will rely primarily on donations, grants, and fundraising. However, nonprofits often face restrictions on how they can generate income. PW, as a for-profit LLC, will help to generate sustainable revenue through its offerings (retreats, events, and educational programs) and contribute profits back to PAWS to support the sanctuary’s mission.
